Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (ABV)

The answer
Bolt or inDrive into the city runs about ₦18,000–25,000 (flagged range; app shows the price), 30–50 min on the airport expressway — against ₦30,000+ at the official board.
Abuja has no train, no bus, no Uber (it exited Nigeria in Sep 2026) — and Bolt's published airport charges beat what the rank desk posts as 'final'.
No data / no card? The official taxi desk inside arrivals prints its fares on a board — the price there is final.
Late flight? App driver supply thins after dark; pre-book a transfer.

🚕 Every way out — real prices

Bolt / inDrive BEST FOR MOST
≈ ₦18,000–25,000 to central Abuja (flagged range)
Bolt publishes its airport supplements: a fixed route charge of ₦3,500–4,000 depending on which city boundary you cross, plus a ₦500 toll on every airport-starting trip. inDrive works on bids. Card in-app; availability is thin at night.
Official airport taxi (board prices)
≈ ₦30,000+ to the city (flagged range)
The desk inside arrivals posts fares on a board and the board price is final. Press through Aug 2026 put official airport cars at ₦30,000 or more into the centre — c. ₦10,000+ over the apps. Cash.
Pre-booked private transfer
≈ €66–75 booked (flagged range)
Meet-and-greet, flight tracked, price locked before you fly — foreign booking engines list sedans from €66–75 into Abuja. The calm option for Maitama/Asokoro business arrivals; compare against Bolt first.
Rental car
Agency quoted
All major desks on site; the airport expressway is a well-maintained dual carriageway and Abuja drives far more easily than Lagos.

⚠️ The traps (walk past these)

Paying the board price before comparing

The rank's ₦30,000+ to the centre was normalised when FAAN suspended e-hailing in July 2026 — fares jumped ~50% until Bolt was cleared to resume in August. The apps' published charges undercut the board every time.

Do this: get data or Wi-Fi, check Bolt/inDrive, and only then decide whether the board is worth it
Asking for Uber

Uber closed Nigeria on 2 September 2026. Old guides promising 'UberX to Wuse' are dead links — and a driver at the kerb 'calling you an Uber' is a rank car in disguise.

Do this: use Bolt or inDrive — installed and card-verified before departure
Expecting any public transport

There is no bus or train to ABV — everything is road, and the airport sits ~40 km from the Central Area (15 km to Gwagwalada, 30 to Jabi/Utako, 38 to Wuse). Anyone selling a 'cheap shuttle' is a taxi.

Do this: budget a road fare; if a quote smells like ₦1,000, it isn't a ride to town
Empty ATMs at a late landing

The rank and most Abuja taxis are cash-only, and terminal ATMs can run dry overnight — a ₦30,000 board price with no naira is a bad negotiation.

Do this: withdraw on arrival early, or carry backup forex to exchange
