The answer
In Terminal 2 follow the Blue Line SkyBus signs to Level 1: the shuttle runs every 15–30 min (about 06:00–22:00) to Bole Road in ~20 min for ≈ ETB 10.
The only fixed-price exit from ADD: Ethiopia publishes no airport taxi tariff, Uber does not operate here (per Ethiopian Airlines' own arrival page), and light rail misses the terminal.
Door to door? The RIDE app quotes before you book — typically ETB 400–800 to Bole, Piazza or Kazanchis.
Late landing? The bus stops near 22:00 — pre-book a RIDE or a hotel pickup.

🚌 Every way out — real prices

Blue Line SkyBus BEST FOR MOST
≈ ETB 10 single
Named on Ethiopian Airlines' own arrival page; leaves Terminal 2 Level 1 every 15–30 min until about 22:00, reaching Bole Road in ~20 min (free T1–T2 landside shuttle runs 24/7). Cash birr, small notes — finish the last 2–5 km by RIDE or taxi.
RIDE app (ride-hailing)
ETB 400–800 to central Addis (flagged range)
Uber does not operate in Ethiopia; RIDE leads the local market. Its own app listing claims 30,000+ cars, 24/7, no surge, sedan/7-seat minivan/12-seat minibus, pre-bookable days ahead (dispatch 8294). Fare is shown in-app; pay cash.
Yellow-cream taxi rank (NTO)
ETB 600–1,000 to the centre (flagged range)
Government/NTO cars wait outside arrivals; blue-and-white private taxis queue near them. No published airport tariff — negotiate in ETB, per car, before loading bags. ~8 km, 15–30 min, longer at 07–09 and 17–20. Check a RIDE quote first; over 1,500 is high.
Line minibus from Bole Road
ETB 10–55 (official tariff)
Public minibuses stop under the Ring Road bridge, a ~10-min walk — the vans at the terminal are charter-only. The Transport Bureau tariff effective 16 Mar 2026: 10 ETB up to 2.5 km, 55 ETB at 20 km. Crowded, no luggage space; ask for "Piazza".

⚠️ The traps (walk past these)

The tout who flashes a RIDE screenshot

Drivers inside arrivals flash a ride-app photo to look licensed, steer you to an unregistered car, then run the trip in another app — or none. A documented case: bags ransacked en route. Legit taxis are yellow/green with a visible license.

Do this: book in your own app only; refuse any trip not registered to your phone number by SMS
The USD quote at the kerb

Touts inside the hall quote $50–80 — 3–5x the going rate. Taxis charge in birr; the birr floated in 2024, so old USD guidebook math is wrong in both directions.

Do this: withdraw birr at the arrivals ATMs; negotiate only in ETB, after checking your in-app price
The luggage-helper swarm

One loader becomes twenty men demanding tips, and daypacks vanish in the exit crush. A fair tip for real help: 5–15 birr.

Do this: let one person touch your bags, keep zips closed, ignore demands above 15 birr
Night arrivals: the bus stops, the kerb talks

SkyBus stops around 22:00 (2026 guides; hours not posted officially) — after that the rank sets prices with no benchmark. Light rail is no help either: its nearest station is 4+ km from the terminal, an airport line is only planned.

Do this: landing late? pre-book a RIDE the day before or get the hotel pickup confirmed in writing
