Nothing ordinary is accepted on the 100E: the airport shuttlebus single ticket is a separate 2,500 Ft product for one uninterrupted trip with no transfers, and BKK's fare table excludes every listed city product, the 24-hour travelcard (2,750 Ft) and the Budapest Card included. Riding without it is a 12,000 Ft on-the-spot penalty fare.
Holders of a valid digital or paper Budapest-pass (except the 15-day one), Pest County Pass or Hungary Pass can buy a 1,000 Ft add-on airport shuttlebus single ticket instead of the 2,500 Ft one — but BKK sells it only in the BudapestGO app. The Budapest Card is not on that list, so its holders still pay 2,500 Ft.
Budapest Airport's own taxi page warns that non-contracted companies, "which may offer their services in the terminal building", are not bound by the official tariff. The contracted company is Főtaxi, with ranks outside at the 2A and 2B entrances; since 3 August 2026 taxis collecting at the departures level and the outer arrivals lane pay an 800 Ft access fee, and non-contracted drivers may be sent to a distant pick-up point.
The official Budapest tariff rose on 1 August 2026 to 1,300 Ft base + 520 Ft/km + 130 Ft/min, the first rise since 2023, and a 2,100 Ft airport base fare now applies when the journey starts at the airport or ends there. It is the same for every licensed operator, so no app undercuts the rank — any guide quoting 1,100 Ft base and 440 Ft/km is out of date.
Every flight uses Terminal 2, split into T2A and T2B; Terminal 1, beside the Ferihegy railway station, has been shut since 2012. The direct rail link the government approved in 2025 — a new line from Kőbánya to the airport with an underground station — had its first procurements launched only in mid-2026 and is years from opening, and the new Terminal+ building begun in February 2026 has no opening date.
