The answer
Since 28 September 2026 the TER train has a station inside the terminal: 4,000 FCFA second class to Gare de Dakar in ~55 minutes, roughly every 24 minutes — until trains stop at 22:00.
For the airport's first nine years, everything was road over the toll motorway; the rail extension (Diamniadio→AIBD, 19 km) finally puts a fixed, traffic-free fare on the board.
Late landing (after 22:00)? The Dem Dikk express bus runs 24/7 for 6,000 FCFA — it leaves the airport one hour after your flight lands.
Hotel across town? The train ends at Gare de Dakar (Plateau); door-to-door is a taxi or transfer.

🚆 Every way out — real prices

TER train to Gare de Dakar BEST FOR MOST
4,000 FCFA (2nd class)
Phase 2 of the TER reached the aerogare on 28 Sep 2026 — follow signs to the footbridge station inside the terminal. ~55 min, every ~24 min on the airport leg; service ends around 22:00. First class published at 7,500–10,000 FCFA depending on source — check the counter. Cash tickets at the station.
Dakar Dem Dikk Express AIBD bus
6,000 FCFA fixed
The airport authority's own page: 24/7 over the toll autoroute; from AIBD the bus departs one hour after your flight lands, and Dakar-side it leaves the HLM Grand-Yoff terminus opposite the Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor. A Diamniadio↔AIBD shuttle runs at 3,000 FCFA. Book via the Dem Dikk app or +221 78 184 58 23.
Yango / Heetch ride apps
≈ 15,000–25,000 FCFA (flagged range)
App fares to Dakar show below taxi quotes, but few drivers position at DSS — 20–40 min waits are common and surge tops 30,000 FCFA at busy arrivals. Have data before you request.
Negotiated taxi from the rank
≈ 20,000–40,000 FCFA day; 35,000–50,000 night (flagged range)
Semi-organised counter near the exit, but no meters anywhere — the fare is what you agree, and night arrivals have the fewest cars and the highest prices. Clarify whether the ~2,600 FCFA motorway toll is inside the agreed number.
Pre-booked private transfer
≈ 30,000–50,000 FCFA fixed (flagged range)
Name board at arrivals, flight tracked, toll and parking included; Senegalese VTC operators publish ~30,000 FCFA all-taxes sedan rates to Dakar. Worth it after a long night flight.

⚠️ The traps (walk past these)

The train stops at 22:00 — your flight may not

Watchgroups flag that a big share of long-haul arrivals land 22:00–03:00, when the TER simply isn't running; the shiny new rail link is a daytime tool only.

Do this: night arrivals: take the 24/7 Dem Dikk bus (one hour after landing) or a booked transfer — not a hope of a train
Gare de Dakar is not your hotel

The TER lands you at the Plateau station with your bags, ~55 min out of the terminal — Almadies, Ngor or Ouakam add another taxi leg that can cost more than the train itself.

Do this: price 4,000 FCFA + city taxi against a 30,000 FCFA door-to-door before choosing
Prices from the old DKR airport

The Yoff city airport (code DKR) closed in December 2017; recycled 'Dakar airport transfer' figures online predate Blaise Diagne's 45 km distance. Even the free-ride promo is dead: the new rail section was only free until 11 Oct 2026.

Do this: anchor on today's published floor: 4,000 FCFA train, 6,000 bus, 20,000+ taxi
The toll arriving separately at the destination

Taxis quote a negotiated fare and then add the motorway toll (~2,600 FCFA) on top — a surprise at the gate after a 45–90 minute drive.

Do this: ask 'péage compris?' before you load bags, and put the answer in the agreed price
