The airport is in HSL zone C and Helsinki Central in zone A, so the airport run is an ABC ticket: €4.50 in the HSL app or on an HSL card, €4.80 tapped contactless. An ordinary Helsinki AB single (€3.30) or AB day ticket (€10.60) stops at the zone B boundary — and HSL's penalty fare for travelling without a valid ticket is €100.
The card reader is the easiest way to buy, but the price is €4.80 against €4.50 in the HSL app, and readers sell adult single tickets only. A child aged 7–17 pays €2.25 for the ABC single and cannot buy it with contactless at all; the app or a ticket machine is the only route.
Only four companies may use the four lanes outside — FixuTaxi, Taksi Helsinki, Lähitaksi and Menevä — and everyone else, app rides included, has to collect from the P2 car park. Finland deregulated taxis in 2018: a 2026 inspection of 47 taxis at the airport found only about a third met the requirements, with 31 sanctions and 19 fines.
Lähitaksi publishes €40.90 from its airport lane to central Helsinki but €50 for a car from elsewhere at the airport, where app bookings collect, plus a €3.60 barrier fee. The fixed fares also only cover the city-centre postcodes — Taksi Helsinki's €38.05 runs to 00100–00180 and 00220, Lähitaksi's to the same list — and outside them you are back on the meter at €2.14–€2.18/km.
Since 21 June 2022 Helsinki Airport has run as a single terminal: the old Terminals 1 and 2 and the walkway between them were taken out of use, and check-in, security and baggage claim are all under one roof. Guides that send you to "Terminal 2 for the train" describe a building that no longer handles passengers.
