Uber publishes a generic HRG airport page with a pickup zone, but 2026 Red Sea transport guides are blunt: Uber and Bolt don't operate in Hurghada (they're a Cairo/Alexandria thing), and terminal 'helpers' pitching an 'Uber ride' are solicitors for rank cars. Plan cash-based taxi or a booked transfer.
Licensed rank taxis are supposed to meter but guides report meters rarely run at the airport; the result is a negotiated price quoted in hard currency at a generous exchange. The same 20-minute town hop that a posted board numbers at ~EGP 135–210 gets asked at US$15–20 (~EGP 750–1,000) from an unprepared-looking arrival.
HRG splits traffic between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 (the newer building that took a 2024 expansion: new north pier, 6 wide-body gates, capacity to ~14M pax), and guides differ on which side charters sit — the official site and current writeups contradict each other on T1-vs-T2 assignments. They're separate buildings: a mid-trip terminal switch means re-entry, not a corridor walk.
The Egyptian Airports Company confirmed (25 Oct 2026) an ongoing overhaul of the domestic departure/arrival halls — expanded sterile area, re-routed passenger flows and reconfigured counters to kill peak bottlenecks before the winter season. Signage and queue layouts you saw last winter are wrong this winter.
