Luxembourg Airport (LUX)

The answer
Take Tram T1 into the city — €0, always: Luxembourg's whole public network has been free since March 2020, and the tram finally reached the airport on 2 March 2025.
The stop sits right next to the terminal, trams come about every 8 minutes, and there is no ticket machine or fare inspector to worry about.
To a mainline train? Bus 29 runs to the central railway station — the airport has no rail station itself.
In a hurry? Taxis queue in front of the terminal; every company sets and displays its own tariff under Luxembourg's taxi law, so pick the car whose printed price board you like.

🚋 Every way out — real prices

Tram T1 BEST FOR MOST
€0
The 'Findel – Luxembourg Airport' stop is next to the terminal (exit arrivals and turn right). Trams towards the city run every ~8 minutes to the airport branch (every 3.5–4 minutes on the central section). First departure from Findel 05:03 (04:57 in school holidays), last from Findel 00:06; the last tram heading TO the airport leaves the city side 23:17 Mon–Sat, 23:12 Sundays. Roughly 25 minutes to Hamilius (city centre).
City buses 16 and 6
€0
AVL buses from the stops directly in front of the terminal (Quai 1 and 4) every 10–15 minutes to Hamilius (old town edge), Stäreplaz and the Kirchberg EU quarter — Luxexpo, Philharmonie, Mudam, European Parliament — and on towards Bertrange.
Bus 29 to the central station
€0
Runs from the terminal via Gare Centrale (the main railway station) and the Cents-Hamm CFL halt — this is how you make a CFL, TGV or ICE connection, since trains stop at the central station, 10 km away, not at the airport.
Taxi (rank in front of the terminal)
metered
Licensed operators Editus and Yellow are the airport's directory. Under the 2016 taxi law every company sets and must visibly display its own tariff, the 'first in line' queue rule is abolished (you may choose any car in the rank), the meter must start at zero in view of the passenger, and the printed meter ticket is the only legally valid receipt.
Pre-booked taxi
booked quote
Note the current airport warning: pre-booked pick-up has moved to Kiss & Fly Parking C — not the terminal rank. Parking C at the terminal entrance is for pick-ups/drop-offs and the first 15 minutes are free.

⚠️ The traps (walk past these)

There is no railway station at the airport

The airport FAQ is blunt: the closest train station is Luxembourg Central, 10 km away. Any guide promising an airport 'halt' is confusing the 2025 tram with a railway.

Do this: make your train connection by tram or bus 29 to the central station
Looking for a ticket machine

Public transport in Luxembourg has been completely free for everyone, residents or visitors, since March 2020. Visitors still hunt for fares to buy and stall at the tram doors.

Do this: just board — there is no ticket, no validation and no fine
Meeting your booked car at the old rank

Because of the tram works the airport has moved pre-booked taxi pick-up (and private coach drop-off) — current notice says Kiss & Fly Parking C. The terminal-forecourt rank is now walk-up taxis only.

Do this: put 'Kiss & Fly Parking C' in your booking message and confirm it with the operator
No left luggage anywhere in the airport

For security reasons lux-Airport operates no luggage storage at all — awkward for long layovers and fly-in meet-ups.

Do this: use the paid left-luggage service at Luxembourg central station (CFL, +352 24 89 24 89)
Flibco is not running here at the moment

The airport's own FAQ states the Flibco fly-bus currently provides no connection from Luxembourg Airport — old itinerary pages and border-parking guides still show it as the cheap link to Trier.

Do this: check flibco.com for the latest before building a trip around an LUX fly-bus leg
