The answer
Take the PisaMover from the station beside the terminal to Pisa Centrale — €6.50 one way, €13.00 return, five minutes, with one intermediate stop at the Aurelia/Goletta car parks.
It is an automated shuttle with its own track, so traffic cannot touch it, and it puts you at Pisa Centrale, which is where every onward train to Florence, Lucca and the coast leaves from.
Two or more of you? The Comune's fixed airport taxi fare is €10.60 to Pisa Centrale — cheaper than two PisaMover tickets.
Going to Florence? Add a regional train from Pisa Centrale, roughly €8.60 and about an hour to Santa Maria Novella.

🚝 Every way out — real prices

PisaMover to Pisa Centrale BEST FOR MOST
€6.50
The station is beside the terminal; the ride is about 5 minutes with one intermediate stop at the San Giusto/Aurelia car parks. Runs every day from 06:00 to midnight, extended to 01:00 from 1 June to 30 September. €6.50 single, €13.00 return. Tickets are valid 30 days from issue and are sold at machines at the airport, Pisa Centrale and San Giusto/Aurelia stations, and at the company ticket office in the Aurelia car park (08:30–18:00).
Taxi from the rank (municipal fixed fare)
€10.60
The Comune di Pisa sets predetermined fares from the airport: €10.60 to Pisa Centrale and €14.20 to Piazza Duomo / Piazza Manin. The rank is outside arrivals. Supplements go on top — roughly €3.05 at night and about €1.50 per bag in the hold. Co.Ta.Pi., the local cooperative, lists €10.80 for the same Central Station run.
Train onward from Pisa Centrale
from €8.60
Pisa Centrale is the junction for the region: regional trains run to Florence Santa Maria Novella in about an hour for roughly €8.60, and there are frequent services to Lucca, Livorno and La Spezia. The PisaMover ticket does not include any train travel — buy the rail ticket separately.
PisaMover family and group rates
€4.50–5.50
Groups of 10 or more pay €5.00 each. The family rate covers up to five members — two parents at €5.50 each and children at €4.50 each. Pisa residents can buy six single shuttle tickets a month at €1.20 by showing an ID card confirming residence.
Park and Fly combined ticket
€3.20
If you are leaving a car, €3.20 covers up to 18 hours in the Goletta or Aurelia park-and-ride plus a return shuttle trip from the intermediate station. Other passengers in the same car get reduced shuttle tickets by entering the parking ticket at the machines at the station entrance.

⚠️ The traps (walk past these)

The PisaMover is not a train and no rail ticket covers it

It is a separate €6.50 for 1,760 metres, with no child fare, no railcard reduction and no regional discount. The only reductions are the family rate and groups of 10 or more. A child travelling half-price on the train pays the shuttle in full.

Do this: budget €6.50 each on top of any rail ticket, and check the family rate before buying singles
There is no fixed taxi fare from Pisa to Florence

Florence is outside the Pisa comune, so the meter runs on the extra-urban rate of about €2.30 per kilometre on top of the opening charge. Over the roughly 80 km that puts the meter alone past €180 before any extras.

Do this: take the PisaMover and a train instead — about €15 all in against a taxi meter of €180 or more
Before 06:00 there is no PisaMover at all

The shuttle's first run is 06:00, and the company ticket office only opens at 08:30. Pisa Centrale's first departures leave around 04:15, so an early flight or an early train leaves you with a taxi as the only way to the terminal.

Do this: check your arrival or departure against the 06:00 first shuttle, and book a taxi in advance if you are outside it
Two people on the PisaMover pay more than a taxi

Two singles are €13.00 against a fixed taxi fare of €10.60 to the same station, and the return pair is €26.00 against roughly €21.20 for two taxi runs. The shuttle only wins on cost when you are travelling alone.

Do this: take the fixed-fare taxi from the rank if there are two or more of you going to the station or the centre
