Sharm El Sheikh International Airport (SSH)

The answer
The cleanest arrival is a fixed-price transfer: USD 20 per car to any of Sharm's 15 resort zones on operators' published lists — same price at 2 AM or 2 PM, driver with your name in arrivals.
Street taxis here are pure bargaining with inflated dollar quotes, so a per-car fixed price removes both the haggle and the FX games.
No booking? Uber/Careem show a firm in-app fare before you ride.
Cheapest? Blue-and-white rank taxi: agree EGP 150–400 by zone, in Egyptian pounds, before getting in.

🚕 Every way out — real prices

Pre-booked fixed-price transfer BEST FOR MOST
USD 20 per car (all zones)
Operators publish a flat USD 20 per car to Naama Bay, Soho Square, Nabq Bay, Hadaba, Old Market and the rest — minivan for 5–7 for about $5 more. 10–30 min depending on zone, name sign in arrivals, no night surcharge, price is per vehicle not per person.
Uber / Careem
firm in-app fare, shown in EGP before you book
2026 airport guides point to the apps specifically to skip haggling: you see the price upfront, pay card or cash in-app. Open the app after baggage claim and follow the in-app pickup pin; drivers cancel on mismatched locations.
Official taxi rank
≈ EGP 150–400 by zone — agreed before the door opens
Blue-and-white taxis queue at Terminal 1 around the clock. 2026 guide ranges: Soho Square 150–200, Naama Bay 200–250, Hadaba/Old Market 250–300, Nabq Bay 300–400 EGP. Meters exist but drivers quote fixed; agree the number in EGP first.
Shared microbus
small EGP cash fare — no published tariff
Private minibuses serve the area from beside Terminal 1; the network has no fixed stops — you flag it down and pay the driver. About 15 min to the core area, tight with luggage. Ask the price before boarding; no official fare list is available online.
Rental car
desks in the arrivals area
Car-rental desks at the airport make the Dahab (90 km) or Ras Mohammed (60 km) day runs practical; expect passport and credit card at pickup.

⚠️ The traps (walk past these)

The $25–30 visa you may not owe

Arrive by air at Sharm, stay under 15 days at Sharm/Dahab/Nuweiba/Taba resorts, and you need no visa at all — the FCDO confirms a free entry permission stamp on arrival. Only leave-the-Sinai or over-15-day plans cost money: on-arrival visas are $30 cash at kiosks (Egypt's official portal says $25 at the bank counter).

Do this: walk to the passport line without buying anything — ignore third-party sites selling a 'Sinai visa'
Dollar quotes at the taxi rank

Drivers start bargaining in dollars or euros at their own private exchange rate. Every current guide ends the same way: pay in Egyptian pounds.

Do this: name your price in EGP first and pay the agreed amount in EGP
The 'EGP 40 to Naama Bay' you read online

Legacy airport-aggregator pages still quote regular-taxi fares around EGP 40 — a pre-devaluation antique. Realistic 2026 rank numbers run 150–400 EGP depending on zone.

Do this: budget the 2026 range, not the old page — and expect end-of-ride 'extras' you never agreed
Peak-season queue and child-seat gap

In summer and Christmas the rank line runs 10–15 minutes, and standard taxis almost never carry baby or child seats.

Do this: families with little ones: book a transfer with a seat at booking time, not at the kerb
