Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN)

The answer
Take the Arlanda Express: 18 minutes non-stop from Stockholm Central to Arlanda South (Terminals 2, 3 and 4), 19 minutes to Arlanda North (Terminal 5), every 12–15 minutes. It is 340 SEK at the machine but 199 SEK if you book at least 5 days ahead.
It is the only airport train whose price you set in advance, it beats the 40-minute coach on time, and the SL commuter train that looks cheaper is not cheap once the Arlanda gate fee is added.
Cheapest direct? The Vy flygbussarna coach is 129 SEK to Cityterminalen in about 40 minutes.
Cheapest of all? SL bus 583 to Märsta plus the commuter train is one ordinary 43 SEK SL ticket, about 60 minutes, and it skips the airport fee completely.

🚆 Every way out — real prices

Arlanda Express BEST FOR MOST
340 SEK (199 booked ahead)
From Stockholm Central platforms 1–2: 18 minutes to Arlanda South (Terminals 2, 3, 4), 19 to Arlanda North (Terminal 5); the hop between the two airport stops is free. Every 12–15 minutes. Adult 340 SEK single, 640 return, or 199 SEK booked at least 5 days ahead (limited tickets, fixed date). Valid 90 days in either direction.
Vy flygbussarna coach
129 SEK
Adult 129 SEK, youth 8–25 99 SEK, children 0–7 free (up to four per adult). Terminal 5 to Stockholm C (Cityterminalen) in about 40 minutes, plus Brommaplan and Liljeholmen. Bought online or in the app, the ticket is valid on any departure for 3 months.
SL commuter train via Arlanda C
200 SEK
The pendeltåg stops at Arlanda Central in SkyCity between Terminals 4 and 5, about 38 minutes to Stockholm C. An SL ticket alone will not open the gate: buy the combined single with the passage included at 200 SEK adult / 183 discounted, or add the 157 SEK supplement to a ticket you already hold. SL tickets are not valid on Arlanda Express.
SL bus 583 to Märsta, then the train
43 SEK
Bus 583 links Märsta station with Sky City and Arlanda terminals 2 and 3, roughly every 15 minutes and about 15–20 minutes. Board the commuter train at Märsta, outside the airport fee zone, and the whole trip is one ordinary 43 SEK SL single — about 60 minutes, one change, no supplement.
Taxi from the airport rank
max 825 SEK
Swedavia-contracted taxis wait outside arrivals at Terminal 5 and Terminal 2, and only eco-taxis work the rank. Inside the marked zone the contracted maximum is 825 SEK for 1–4 passengers and 1,300 SEK for 5–8 to one address, luggage and VAT included; outside it the meter applies. Swedish taxi fares are otherwise unregulated.
Uber / Bolt
app quote, no fixed fare
Both work legally at Arlanda from a ride-hailing area, not the taxi rank: Uber's pick-up is the Appride on demand kerb across the car park from Terminal 5 arrivals, and Bolt shows its own point in the app. No published fare exists, so weigh the app quote against the 825 SEK contracted-taxi ceiling.

⚠️ The traps (walk past these)

Your SL ticket will not open the gate at Arlanda C — 157 SEK more

Arlanda Central sits behind its own turnstiles on the privately financed Arlanda Line, so a valid SL single or travelcard stops at the barrier. The passage supplement is 157 SEK for everyone 18 and over, covers one passage within 120 minutes, and carries no student, senior or family discount. SL's combined single including the passage is 200 SEK adult; the SL + Arlanda 30-day travelcard is 770 SEK.

Do this: buy the Arlanda passage fee in the SL app before the gate, or take bus 583 to Märsta and board the train there
Terminal 4 has no check-in or security any more — it is part of Terminal 5

The old Terminal 4 check-in and security control closed on 28 October 2025 and its gate area now works as part of Terminal 5. Terminal 3's security closed on 1 September 2026, its gates reopening at the end of 2026 as part of Terminal 2. All domestic traffic now leaves Terminal 5; international traffic uses Terminals 2 and 5. Buses at Terminal 5 now stop at Terminal 4, an 8-minute walk, and drop-off moved to the car park 400 metres away.

Do this: check your terminal on the airline's own site, and allow 8 minutes to walk between Terminals 4 and 5 through SkyCity
Swedish taxi fares are unregulated — the window sticker is your only protection

There is free price-setting on taxis in Sweden, so the same 40 km can cost wildly different amounts. Every licensed car must show a comparative price (jämförpris) — a typical 10 km, 15-minute trip — in large black digits on yellow, with the highest rate that car applies shown extra large. Only cars contracted to Swedavia carry the 825 SEK (1–4) ceiling inside the marked zone.

Do this: read the yellow comparative-price sticker before you get in, ask for the fixed price to your address, and refuse the car if the meter is not switched on
Anyone offering you a taxi inside arrivals has no airport contract

Only drivers meeting a pre-booked passenger may enter the arrivals hall. Anyone approaching you at the baggage belt offering a taxi is not licensed for airport pick-ups and will quote above the cap — a common line is that the trains or buses are not running. The real rank is outside, behind the signs reading Taxi, Godkänd taxi.

Do this: walk past anyone who approaches you inside the terminal and take a car from the marked rank or the app's pick-up point
