The answer
Leave through the Swiss sector of arrivals and take Bus 50 (BVB) from the forecourt — CHF 6.60 for the TNW 3-zone ticket, about 20 minutes to Basel SBB, every 7–10 minutes from 04:30 to midnight.
EuroAirport is the only airport in the world operated jointly by two countries, and the Swiss exit is a customs corridor that leads straight into Basel: bus 50 is an ordinary city bus at ordinary city prices, with no airport surcharge.
Tight budget? Stay in a Basel-Stadt hotel and the BaselCard covers the airport zone: TNW zones 10, 11, 13, 14 and 15 are free for your whole stay, and many hotels mark the booking confirmation as a «Mobility-Ticket» so it works on bus 50 when you land.
In a hurry? A taxi from the Swiss-sector rank is CHF 40–50 on the cantonal meter, about 15 minutes.
⚠️ The traps (walk past these)
The airport is in France: the wrong exit turns a CHF 6.60 bus into a CHF 50 taxi
EuroAirport's address is 68304 Saint-Louis, France — the whole airport, Swiss sector included, sits on French soil, jointly operated by France and Switzerland. Arrivals splits into a Swiss sector and a French sector, each with its own customs post and bus forecourt: bus 50 leaves from the Swiss side, Distribus 11 from the French side. Walk out of the wrong door and you cannot reach the other bus without going back through customs.
Do this: follow the Swiss sector signs out of arrivals and take bus 50 from the Swiss forecourt
A CHF 4.20 one-zone ticket does not reach the airport
The airport is TNW zone 13 and Basel city is zone 10, with zone 11 in between, so the fare depends on the zones the bus travels through: a short-distance (CHF 2.60) or one-zone (CHF 4.20) ticket is not valid for the airport run, and a 2-zone ticket is CHF 5.10. Inspectors do check, and an invalid ticket is a fine rather than a top-up.
Do this: press the 3-zone fare (CHF 6.60), or buy the CHF 10.70 «Basel» day ticket which covers the airport and the whole city all day
There is no train station at EuroAirport — the real one is a 2030 project
The terminal has no rail station and the airport's own transport page routes everyone onto buses: bus 50 to Basel SBB (about 20 minutes) or Distribus 11 to Saint-Louis Gare (10–15 minutes). The terminal annex (EMT) that will eventually add rail capacity does not start construction until 2027 and is due for handover in 2030/31.
Do this: plan on bus 50 to Basel SBB and buy the onward rail ticket there or in the SBB app
Land after midnight and the CHF 6.60 bus is gone
Bus 50 runs from 04:30 to midnight, every 7–10 minutes — the last leaves around midnight. Distribus 11 runs 05:00 to midnight on the French side. A late-night arrival means a taxi at CHF 40–50 on the Swiss meter, about CHF 50 by the airport's own published quote.
Do this: check the last bus 50 against your landing time and pre-book a Swiss-sector taxi if you land after midnight
Men offering rides inside arrivals are not the rank, and cost more than the CHF 50 meter
Uber's own BSL page warns riders not to accept trips from people soliciting inside the terminal or in the ground-transport zones. The official taxis are Airport Taxi Basel (+41 61 325 27 00) at the Swiss-sector rank and ABM Taxis in Saint-Louis (+33 6 63 87 73 00) on the French side. A car taken inside the hall is always above the metered fare.
Do this: walk out to the rank in your own sector, or order in the app and verify the plate before you get in
